Tots Carlos, Mylene Paat, MJ Phillips go undrafted in KOVO

Premier Volleyball League stars Tots Carlos, Mylene Paat, and MJ Phillips all went undrafted in the 2024 Korean V-League (KOVO) Women’s Asian Quarter Tryouts, Wednesday.

Phillips, the lone Filipina selected fifth overall in last year’s draft by the Gwangju AI Peppers, was left out by her former team after they picked up Chinese middle blocker Yu Zhang as their number one pick.

Meanwhile, Paat went undrafted for the second consecutive year after also throwing her name in the draft in the previous year.

Paat and Carlos underwent a combine in the last two days on Jeju Island, which forced them to miss their respective squads’ semifinal debut in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference last Tuesday.

On the other hand, Phillips remained with Petro Gazz as former Korean V.League players are exempted from attending the tryouts. She played a pivotal part in the Angels’ four-set win over Paat’s Chery Tiggo, unloading 16 points in just her second game back with the team.

Carlos’ Cool Smashers, on the other hand, were on their way to securing a win after taking the first two sets over Choco Mucho before eventually crumbling down and losing in five sets.

Paat and Carlos are expected to rejoin their respective PVL squads as soon as possible, but there is still no word if they will make it in time for Thursday’s matches.

Creamline will try to rebound against Petro Gazz at 4:00 PM. On the other hand, Chery Tiggo aims to bounce back against Choco Mucho at 6:00 PM.
