Sauler bids farewell to La Salle community, Green Archers

Less than 24 hours after his resignation had been accepted by the De La Salle University, former Green Archer head coach Juno Sauler expressed his deepest gratitude to the La Salle community and his players for the opportunity given to him during the past 16 years.

In a short Instagram post by Sauler, posted 9:00pm November 24, 2015, Sauler thanked both La Salle and his players.

“To DLSU: Thank you for the opportunity,” Sauler’s post opened. “I’ve learned a lot all these years and will always continue to carry the LaSallian virtues with me. ANIMO.”

From there, Sauler went on to quote one of his heroes, former UCLA head coach John Wooden, in saying: “To the Players: I’ve always admired Coach [John] Wooden and have applied his principles in my own life. And so, I leave you with this…”

“Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.’

“I have so much respect and love for you Gentlemen and will always be grateful for the time spent with all of you,” Sauler ended.

Juno Sauler led the De La Salle University Lady Archers to three straight championships back in the early 2000’s. From there, he was able to hone his craft as an assistant coach position in the PBA.

After Gee Abanilla was relieved from coaching duties for the Green Archers back in 2013, Sauler was appointed the successor and was able to win the Men’s Basketball Championship in his first year at the helm. Sauler went on to compile a 31-19 record before resigning early Tuesday morning. La Salle finished in fifth place in his final year as head coach.
