The UP Fighting Maroons, who have yet to win a game this UAAP season was dealt with another blow. Head coach Rey Madrid was sanctioned a 2 game suspension following his “point-shaving” allegations after their battle with the UST Growling Tigers last Saturday, August 2, 2014.
When asked how the decision came about, Commissioner Andy Jao said “The decision came when I met with my deputies, [and] supervisor of officials, and my advisor. It was unanimous… I think that we went through the process of substantiating his allegations; but, he could not [show any proof]. I did not make a unilateral decision – it was discussed thoroughly.”
The suspension would affect the Maroons’ next two games against the De Lasalle Green Archers on August 6 and the Adamson Soaring Falcons on August 9.
