No sharing this time: Rey Guevarra takes home Slamdunk Contest crown

Tied after the two dunks in the final round against Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, Rey Guevarra finished off the PBA 2015 Slamdunk Competition with a baseline between the legs flush for a perfect 50.

The two were tied with 97 points after their two attempts in the final round. Aguilar did an off-the-glass windmill while Guevarra was assisted by Reynel Hugnatan in an alley-oop flush.

In round two, Aguilar dropped a 50 with a catch from Kevin Alas and finished it off with a right-handed slam. Guevarra countered with a two-handed finish assisted by Simon Atkins.

JC Intal ended the stint with 90 points with a baseline jam and a two-handed 360 slam.

Defending co-champion Justin Melton of Purefoods did a spectacular one-handed lefty finish from a Stanley Pringle toss for a 44-point effort in the preliminaries but came up short in entering the final round due to a failed opening round attempt.

Matt Ganuelas-Rosser also showed a spectacular performance with a back of the rim and an off-the-glass reverse dunk but was two-point shy in entering the final period.

The judges for the dunk contest were Nikko Ramos, Nelson Beltran, Alfrancis Chua, Diocelo Sy, and JB Baylon.
