Victolero, Mahindra staying positive despite missing playoffs

Even after the Mahindra Enforcers were booted out of the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday, interim head coach Chito Victolero is maintaining a positive mindset, saying the team should pick up lessons from the conference.

“The important thing is we need to learn from the experience,” Victolero said after Mahindra fell to Blackwater, 108-99.

The mentor credited the toughness of the team, who made things difficult opponents in games although they fell short in the end. Victolero took the losing conference as a challenge for Mahindra to improve the team’s maturity.

“Although it was a rebuilding conference for us, may mga games kami na pwede kaming manalo eh so hindi dapat kami dumaan sa ganito,” he said.

“Blessing siguro na kailangan namin ma-experience yung ganitong mga games to improve and learn. Siguro kailangan namin masaktan muna. Yun yung positive na sinabi ko (sa kanila). The good thing here is we learned a lot. Even the coaching staff, the players, the whole team. We need to stay together. We need to keep believing we can have a positive outlook next conference.”PBA41-PH-CUP-ME-BW-Revilla Victolero, Mahindra staying positive despite missing playoffs - philippine sports news

The Enforcers finished with a 2-9 record, only better than the 1-10 Meralco Bolts. Victolero added that heading into the next conferences, the team should demand production from more players to make the team even more dangerous.

“We need to be consistent. May instance na may player na maganda ang game. Minsan hindi maganda tapos may ibang puputok. Kailangan sabay-sabay,” Victolero said.

“Kailangan every game lahat ng effort sama-sama e. Hindi pwedeng isa lang o dalawa o tatlo lang ang magta-trabaho. Dapat lahat kami. Yun lang ang natutunan namin.”
