UST demolishes ADMU Lady Tennisters

Coming out of their near loss against university rival DLSU two weeks ago, the Lady Tennisters of the España-based campus were out to extend their win streak to 3 as they went up against the ADMU Lady Tennisters last January 24.

Turning away from the exciting matchup of January 11 against the Taft based Lady Tennisters, the UST squad ended their melee in one sided 4-1 victory against the still winless and clearly ailing Atenean squad.

With their only defeat brought by Almea Rosales at the hands of ADMU’s tennis star Shanine Olivarez, youngest daughter of former PHILTA chairman Pablo Olivarez and same clan as the namesake of the Olivarez Sports Center, in an almost one sided opening match which ended at 0-6, 2-6, the UST squad were all out to claim revenge against the Atenean Eagles for denying them the chance for a sweep.

Starting the one sided onslaught on the singles side was Macy Gonzales of UST who dominates ADMU’s Khrizelle Sampaton in a quick 6-2, 6-2 match. Her victory was quickly followed by the doubles team of April Santos and Lenelyn Milo as they easily dispatch the ADMU doubles team of Samantha Martin and Naomi Riskin in a quick 6-0, 6-2 match.

The wins by Gonzales and the Santos-Milo duo were followed by their remaining comrades who were also poised to continue their streak of dominance. Continuing the show of force was the final singles competitor, Kendies Malinis, and the final doubles duo, Shy Mae Gitalan and Genevieve Caorte, of UST who went up against ADMU’s final competitors, Jana Hernandez for the singles and Jana Esconde and Jessica Lagman for the doubles.

Malinis’ match against ADMU’s Hernandez ended in similar fashion to Gonzales victory as she ends the match in a similar 6-2, 6-2 victory. The duo of Gitalan and caorte also showed dominance against the duo of Esconde and Lagman regardless of a slight hiccup in the second set to end 6-1, 6-3 to finshes UST’s third tie still undefeated.
