Pennisi returns to Barako for future pick

Star Hotshots big Mick Pennisi was sent back to the Barako Bull Energy Friday night after a trade which saw the Hotshots receiving the Energy’s 2017 second round pick.

Pennisi was acquired by Star in the 2014-15 season for Isaac Holstein and Ronnie Matias primarily to provide support off the bench as Ian Sangalang, who tore his ACL, missed the previous season.

With the 2017 second rounder, the Hotshots can add another backup player in the future. In the recent draft, they were able to steal guard Mark Cruz in the deeper stages of the draft.

Pennisi averaged in the 2014-15 season. He joins the likes of Jake Pascual, Rico Maierhofer, and Jondan Salvador in the Energy frontline where he is expect to add ceiling.

The 15-year veteran averaged 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14 minutes of play for Star last season.
