NU Lady Bulldogs obliterate UP counterparts

As the second round of the UAAP Tennis Championship comes to a close, the NU Lady Bulldogs wasted no time in showing their worth, obtaining their hard-earned finals appearance as they obliterated the UP Lady Maroons 4-1 to finish the second to the last day of the Tennis tournament at the Olivarez Sports Center.

Beginning what could be described as UP’s final days in the UAAP Tennis Championship, the NU Lady Bulldogs did not hold back as they continuously battered the already weakened 4th place Katipunan squadron. Commencing the unrelenting assault was one-half of NU’s sibling superstars, Clarice Patrimonio, who immediately dispatched UP’s Christine Valdez 6-0, 6-1. Sustaining her victory was the duo of Jzash Canja and Goldie Nagret who also delivered a fatal blow against UP’s Sarah Lim and Medelene Ramos 6-3, 6-2.

Further continuing the successful momentum started by Clarice Patrimonio, fellow NU Lady Bulldog and older sister, Christine Patrimonio, also notched a quick and one-sided victory against UP’s Monica Cortez after numerous smashes ended the second singles match in a similar 6-0, 6-1 victory. Her win was also followed by the efforts of second doubles competitors Junnelyn Polito and Hannah Espinosa who defeated their assignment, UP’s Moira Velicaria and Bancy Pena, in a sensational 6-0, 6-2 finish.

The Lady Maroons, however, denied NU a stunning 5-0 victory as their very own Nicole Eugenio overcame a rattled Louise Penados in an initially close match of 5-7, 0-7.
