Novi Sad repeats over Manila North, sends Philippine side packing

Manila North was unable to overcome the hot sniping of defending FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final winners Novi Sad Al Wahda as they bowed down to the UAE side, 13-21 in the quarter-finals Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Vic Manuel scored the opening basket but Dusan Domovic Bulut and Dejan Majstorovic nailed back to back twos in a hot start by Novi Sad, 4-1.

Majstorovic added another long distance connection while Marko Savic also joined the long-range party to make it 8-2 early.

Karl Dehesa then responded with a two of his own before baskets by Troy Rosario and Calvin Abueva knotted the count at 9 apiece.

Novi Sad however would launch an 8-1 run after Manila North suffered foul trouble, as the lead ballooned to 17-10 for the defending champion.

Bodies crashed to the floor in the highly physical battle as Manila North gave hard fouls to their opponents. Free throws by Majstorovic ended the game early, 21-13.

The quarter-final finish by Manila North equals the finish of Manila West in the 2014 edition of the World Tour Final in Tokyo, Japan.
