The Adamson Lady Falcons started their UAAP Season 78 campaign with a promising 3-0 start. However, the Lady Falcons lost an unprecedented eight straight games, including a loss to the then winless University of the Philippine Lady Maroons to open the second round of the tournament. The San Marcelino-based squad finished the tournament with a 4-10 slate for sixth place.

Meanwhile, over on the men’s side, Mike Fermin led a young Adamson Soaring Falcons squad to three wins – defying predictions of pundits. Fermin replaced Kenneth Duremdes as head coach of the team during the FilOil Flying V preseason tournament.

The 37 year old coach has had prior experience to coaching a women’s basketball team before with him coaching the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers in the WNCAA.

“He (Fermin) is an asset to the university with commendable work ethics, very professional, and can handle well players’ issues and concerns,” Adamson Athletic Director Fr. Aldrin Suan told SPIN.ph.

Fermin will have a tough task at hand to reclaim the former glory of the Lady Falcons with the National University Lady Bulldogs still projected to be the powerhouse of the tournament come next season while the De La Salle University Lady Archers are still expected to contend with an intact line-up. But as we all know, Fermin has always defied expectations.
