Lee taking Governors’ Cup one game at a time

Like how he has familiarized himself with how to deal with adversity, Paul Lee — one of the leaders of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters — is taking the PBA Governors’ Cup campaign a step at a time.

Though the Elasto Painters are are still at the bottom of the team standings in the conference, Lee remains calm and believes in the strength of the squad which kept a core despite all the runner-up finishes.

“Malaking bagay yun dahil kahit natalo kami ng sunud-sunod na conference yung mga tao, ‘yun pa rin. Hindi naman nagbago, so kaya naming baguhin ang pangyayari dahil sama-sama kami sa team ng matagal na,” Lee said on the importance of continuity and having a tested system.

The win over the Blackwater Elite Wednesday pushed the Elasto Painters ahead to 2-4 in the season, and now prepares for another stern test against Commissioner’s Cup conqueror Talk ‘N Text.

Lee added that Rain or Shine cannot relax against a “dangerous team,” and should only focus on the task at hand first before moving on to the next one.

“Importante sa amin [‘yung panalo] dahil sa standing. Must-win game talaga siya at positive naman ako sa game. [Against] Talk ‘N Text, on any given night pwede sila tumambak ng 20 or 30,” Lee said.

“[Regarding the playoffs] hindi natin masabi kasi marami pang malalakas na team na makakalaban.”
