After a disappointing loss earlier against the UST Tigresses, the University of the Philippines Lady Jins did not let the loss get into their heads. The UP Lady Jins only needed the first 4 bouts to leave their fate on the hands of the FEU Lady Tamaraws.
Nicoele Sibug ended, what some would say, a disappointing season for Alyssa Bonifacio with a 5-1 win. Charizza Alombro showcased excellent defense in a 6-3 win over Leigh Nuguid. In the bantamweight match, prized rookie Stephanie Osio squeaked-out a sudden death victory over Cleio Banez to end the season with a 5-1 record. To seal the series for the Lady Maroons, Kristine Lozada handily beat Kristine Lozada 14-7 to sweep the 1st four matches and give UP the win. Super rookie Camille Bonje ended the UAAP taekwondo season with an immaculate 6-0 record in her 9-5 win over Janin Marcaida.
After the final match ended, the UP taekwondo team, both men’s and women’s, headed to the stands to wait for the UST-FEU match. An FEU win would give UP the taekwondo championship.
