Kaya FC appoints Greatwich as head coach

In an expected turn of events, Kaya Football Club named legendary Azkal and former player Chris Greatwich as their new head coach.

Ever since he joined Kaya in 2013, Greatwich was not only designated as a player but also had the role of full-time director at the club’s academy.

As of press time, it is currently unknown whether or not Greatwich will continue as the full-time director of Kaya’s academy now that he was formally given the role of head coach for the black and yellow.

Kaya released the news via a release on their website which also stated Greatwich’s credentials and past head coaching jobs in America. It also noted that with Greatwich at the helm at a then interim basis, he led the club to finals of the 2014 FA Charity Cup and won the 2015 UFL Cup via penalties against Ceres-La Salle. Due to the 2015 UFL Cup triumph, Kaya will represent the Philippines in the AFC Cup.

ā€œI think it is important that the club enjoyed some stability, and I think that I have shown in my work with the academy that I am invested in the overall development of the club. I know the management and the board have full confidence in my ability to achieve success with the team and build on what we achieved at the end of last year,ā€œ said Greatwich upon his appointment. He also added that Kaya is an ambitious club which aims to challenge for titles on a consistent basis.

Kaya hopes that Greatwich’s designation as first team head coach will not only uphold the club’s ā€œNever Say Dieā€ mantra and its virtues but also add more silverware in the trophy cabinet. ā€œWe are delighted with his appointment, and we look forward to a new season with promise and success. We have supported him as a player, and we will do the same with him as our head coachā€, stated Kaya.
