Coach Atoy Co’s outburst last Friday, in their game against the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Pirates has resulted to a one-game suspension.

Atoy Co showed his dismay for several controversial technical foul calls on his players that were trying to draw offensive fouls. Thrice in the match, referees called Mapuans for “faking a foul” which warranted a technical. The PBA legend took his shirt off and waved it to the crowd. Referees then tossed the disgruntled head coach and awarded Lyceum multiple charities and ball possession. Luckily for Co, his antics did not cost his team the game.

The suspension will take effect today in Mapua’s game against the College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers game at 4:00pm. Lead assistant coach Ed Cordero will take over coaching duties for the game.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Knights head coach Aldin Ayo was also slapped with a suspension after receiving his second warning.

The NCAA’s management committee had already warned Ayo during the Knights’ game against the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags according to Cristobal. Ayo, in one of the sequences during the third quarter of the game, mocked an official by getting one of his assistant coach’s glasses in a sign of his dismay of the official’s calls.

The second and final straw occurred during their game against the LPU Pirates. In a bizarre call by the officials at the 5:39 mark, a supposed foul by Quinto on Nguidjol was given to McJour Luib that resulted to the fifth foul for the guard. Letran head coach Aldin Ayo threw a chair to the hallway in disgust of the call that resulted to a technical.

The two warnings resulted to a one game suspension that will take effect today in their game against the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals at 2:00pm. Luis Jose Gonzalez will take over coaching duties for Letran.
