The Adamson Lady Falcons are now three for three this season in mercy rule wins as they blewout the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Batters, 10-2 in 4.5 innings last Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Coach Ana Santiago started super-senior Glesyl Opjer as the team’s pitcher for the game. Opjer struggled at the top of 1st inning, giving up a double RBI courtesy of Cat Altomonte that led to runs by Nikki Borromeo and Eunice Nevalga. Coach Santiago then replaced Opjer with sophomore Baby Jane Raro. Before the top half of the opening inning ended, Raro was subbed out for reigning MVP Annalie “Big Ben” Benjamen.

The Lady Falcons gained the lead for good at the bottom of the 1st inning. Queeny Sabobo, Lorna Adorable, Flor Pabiana, and Benjamen all scored in the inning. Moreover, the runs by Adorable and Pabiana came from a double RBI by Benjamen.

Adamson senior Krisna Paguican extended the AdU lead to 5-2 in the 2nd inning. The game was then settled in the 3rd inning. A triple by Clariz Palma paved the way for a Gelyn Lamata run. Runs by Lamata, Paguican, Adorable, and Pabiana extended the AdU lead to an insurmountable eight runs.

The trio of Adorable, Pabiana, and Palma scored two runs each for the Lady Falcons.

Benjamen had a superb all-around game in the diamond. On offense, Benjamen had two hits (a single and a double) and 3 RBI’s. Furthermore, “Big Ben” only gave up three hits and struck-out seven pitchers in a dominant outing.

The Adamson Lady Falcons will next face the NU Lady Bulldogs in a rematch of the UAAP Season 76 Finals while the Ateneo Lady Batters will next face the UST Softbelles. Both games will be on Saturday, February 7, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
