The Ateneo de Manila University lady jins bounced back from their loss earlier in the day by upsetting the University of Santo Tomas, 4-3.
Ateneo’s Irene Thea Bermejo would close out her day with a victory in the finweight match. Korina Paladin would tie the series for UST in the flyweight match, after edging out Noleen Largada. The next two matches would go to Ateneo however, with Weedee Valenzuela and Kyla Relucio bagging victories in the bantamweight and featherweight matches. UST’s Zay louise Cajes, in need of the victory to keep UST’s hopes alive, would manage to lead by as much as 11-4 over opponent Frances Siapno. However, a stealthy kick that led to a knockdown from Siapno would cause Cajes to lose her balance, giving her eight kyonggo’s while ending the match in favor of Ateneo. Arriane Asegurado and Philippine Team member Jane Rafaelle Narra would manage to take the welterweight and middleweight matches for UST, but the win would remain with Ateneo.
