F2 Logistics streaks to four at ailing Generika-Ayala’s expense

The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers remain the only unbeaten team in the 2017 Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix after taking care of the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers in three sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-17, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

While this win marked their third consecutive straight-sets triumph, F2 Logistics looked vulnerable at different points of the match. The Lifesavers started the match hot, turning F2 Logistics’ miscues into a 13-8 lead. However, the Cargo Movers regained composure and quickly rattled off a 7-0 run in response. Generika-Ayala kept the set competitive, forcing a 20-all tie before fully collapsing in the endgame.

It was the same see-saw momentum shift that spelled the second frame. Generika-Ayala allowed an early lead to dwindle and saw F2 fully take the lead, 17-13. Generika closed in and trimmed the deficit down to two, 17-15, until an F2 Logistics 1-2 sub fully paid off. With second setter Shawna Santos and bench winger Cha Cruz coming in, the Cargo Movers won eight of the last 12 points to close the frame and take a 2-0 lead.

By the third set, Generika-Ayala had run out of steam. F2 Logistics waltzed to an early 9-4 advantage and never looked back.

“So ang magandang nakikita ko ngayon sa team is nakaka-recover sila sa mistakes nila. Kahit may pagkakamali kami sa una, nandoon naman ‘yung pag-adapt nila sa ginagawa ng kalaban,” mused F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus. “Hopefully, sa mga susunod na laban mas mabilis pa kami maka-adjust.”

F2 Logistics imports Kennedy Bryan and Maria Jose Perez pulled in 14 points apiece to lead the Cargo Movers. F2 Logistics were also the recipient of 23 Generika errors.
